Vagharshapat in Armenian is the home of Etchmaidzin Cathedral and St. Gayane Churche, UNESCO World Heritage sites and the educational center for members of the clergy.
Vagharshapat is a town in Armenia and the site of Etchmiadzin the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church including the Etchmaidzin Cathedral,301 A.D.,considered the first cathedral in the world, and St. Gayane Church, 630 A.D..which is being use for services while the Mother Church is being restored. Pilgrims from around the world attended services recently as well as members of the Armenian military and the spiritual head of the Armenian church Catholics Karekin was in attendence and blessed visitors personally.
